Hi Everyone!

You know, it wasn’t long ago that I was sitting in my office, staring out the window, dreaming of making a change in my life. Maybe like you are right now.

At the time I was a sales manager at a top firm that produces vacuum packer in northern Italy. It was a great job, but it wasn’t my dream. The grey winter days were all the same. Things were OK. I was playing it safe. But in my heart, I knew there was more to life.

I will never forget the moment when the light bulb flashed in my brain. It was a dreary cold winter day, with that bone chilling humidity of Venice, a cold that had me frozen into conformity. I was staring out the window reminiscing about my days working in the warm Indian Ocean light of the Maldives. I remembered my friend Phil, an engineer for Emirate Airlines. While we enjoyed the good life in the sun he loved to tell me, “Marco, my dream is to die in a warm place.”  Remembering the light of his laughter, as I shivered in my office, the light flashed in my brain. Light! It was light I was looking for! And warmth!

That evening I rushed home to Fiorenza and said, “Let’s do it. Now! Let’s go to a warm place.”

But it wasn’t my first experience with big life changes. I had experienced lots of life altering moves as a child so I trusted that they were possible and positive. I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany. My mother is German and my father is Italian. When I was eleven we moved to my father’s birthplace, Treviso Italy, where my restaurant expertise was also born.

My family was active in the restaurant business in both Germany and Italy. So I was raised in an environment of multicultural entrepreneurs. Indeed later I would also run my own business in Germany, after travelling and working in a dozen different countries, including the Maldives. Those years armed with me with experience and several languages. But at some point,  homesickness brought me back to that frozen, humid vacuum office in northern Italy.

But that lightbulb moment in my frozen office?  It changed my life. Believe it or not, that very day, I made a decision and I took action. Immediately. But this time there was one big difference. This time I wasn’t alone. I made this decision with the woman I wanted to share my life with. My personal dreams had to line up with my business realities.

By the way, if you have visited our business, Cafe Azul in Tarifa, you know Fiorenza.  We built our dream business and our dream lifestyle together. And that’s what I’m going to help you do too.

Fiorenza didn’t speak a word of English or Spanish. She had to give up the security of her own solid business in Italy.  We did our research and calculated the risks. We gathered our strength and trusted our instincts. Then, we took action.

I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. I’m not going to tell you that you just have to trust the process and believe in the dream. No. You have to work hard. But as my old business partner used to tell me, “What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronge

Our decision making process, the same process I am going to help you through, led us to take over an existing business in Tarifa.  Maybe you have seen our photos on social media, or read our hundreds of 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor.  Maybe you have seen us in Cosmopolitan Magazine and several travel guides.  Maybe you have even had the luck to enjoy some of Fiorenza’s creations yourself.  Either way, you know I am not exaggerating when I tell you that we have built a successful business. But not just that.  We have built a lifestyle. I will never be cold again!

It wasn’t all roses. After trying to adapt the business to our mentality, we gave up and adapted our minds to the business. And more so, we adapted to the local reality.  We learned how to deliver what people want, when they want, and where they want. That is what you are going to learn how to do. And that is how you make money.

But first, YOU have to make a decision. Are you ready? Come on. Let’s make your dream a reality.
